Caroline Durieux(1896-1989) was born in New Orleans and graduated from Newcomb College. With her husband Pierre, she traveled to Cuba and Mexico, which had an influence on her art. It was in Mexico City that she met and befriended Diego Rivera. Upon returning to Louisiana, she taught at Newcomb College and later at Louisiana State University. She utilized the technique of cliché- verre(printmaking on glass) and electron printmaking(using radioactive ink).
